【HK National Security Law: Trials and Verdicts】Benny Tai Principal Offender in the HK National Security Law Case

2026年03月29日 12:00

Benny Tai, a former associate professor of law at the University of Hong Kong, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in the so‑called “unofficial primary election” case.

He was a prominent figure throughout Hong Kong’s political unrest. Most notably, the 2014 unlawful “Occupy Central” movement, which he helped launch, opened Pandora’s box of political turmoil and has often been described as the blueprint for the city’s later disturbances.

The program titled HK National Security Law: Trials and Verdicts, jointly produced by HKGPao and Silent Majority for HK, features host Vanessa Chow examining Benny Tai’s offenses in detail.
